Generic Inquiries

Some Production report templates rely on custom Generic Inquiries (GIs) to function properly. These GIs are developed by Velixo to support the templates and ensure consistent, error-free performance across different instances. However, they are not automatically included in your Acumatica instance and must be manually imported for the templates to work correctly.

How to Import Generic Inquiries

Importing a Generic Inquiry (GI) is a simple process. After downloading the required GI from the Production Report template article, follow the steps below to complete the import.

  • Log in to your Acumatica instance and go to Customization > Profiles > Generic Inquiry

Note: You must have the necessary permissions to import a Generic Inquiry into your system. If the Generic Inquiry screen is not visible or accessible, please contact your Acumatica system administrator for assistance.

  • On the Generic Inquiry screen, click the Clipboard icon and select Import from XML

  • This will open the Upload XML File window. Locate and select the downloaded file from your system, then click Upload to proceed.

  • Once the upload is complete, the Generic Inquiry will be installed and available for use within the system.

How to Override Existing Generic Inquiries

At times, existing Generic Inquiries may be updated as part of ongoing enhancements or fixes to the Production Report templates. When this happens, the updated version of the GI will be made available in the corresponding report article. To apply the changes, you’ll need to manually re-import the updated GI into your system.

The process of re-importing a Generic Inquiry is the same as the initial import. However, during the upload, you will see the following message indicating that the GI already exists:

To continue, click Import. The new version of the Generic Inquiry will overwrite the existing one in the system.

Import Scenarios and Data Objects

Similar to Generic Inquiries, Import Scenarios and Data Objects are also required by certain Production report templates, especially those that support Writeback functionality. These components must be imported into the system to ensure the Writeback features function correctly.

How to Import Acumatica Import Scenarios and Data Providers

Importing Import Scenario and Data Provider is a simple process. After downloading the required components from the Production Report template article, follow the steps below to complete the import.

  • Access both Acumatica Import Scenario and Data Provider under Integration > Profiles

Note: You must have the necessary permissions to import an Import Scenario and Data Provider into your system. If the required screens are not visible or accessible, please contact your Acumatica system administrator for assistance.

  • Start with the Data Providers screen and click Clipboard > Import from XML

  • This will open the Upload XML File window. Locate and select the downloaded file from your system, then click Upload to proceed.

  • Once the upload is complete, the Data Provider will be installed and available for use within the system.

  • After importing the Data Provider, navigate to the Import Scenarios screen to continue the setup. On this screen, click the + sign to create a new record.

  • On the New Record screen, click the Clipboard icon and select Import from XML.

  • This will open the Upload XML File window. Locate and select the downloaded file from your system, then click Upload to proceed.

  • Once the upload is complete, the Import Scenario will be installed and available for use within the system.
